Our Faculty

RHSM’s faculty is its greatest resource and the heart of its excellent educational environment. When alumnae/i recall their years in our care, they remember the men and women who taught them, not just the lessons they learned. Our teachers are accessible, interesting people whose primary concern is the success of each individual child.

Each member of the Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s School faculty is a skilled and dedicated professional. More than half of RHSM’s faculty hold or are pursuing graduate degrees and, on average, an RHSM teacher has taught for over 15 years. In addition to their duties as teachers, advisors, club leaders, coaches and committee members, RHSM faculty members take time for their own professional growth. The men and women of the RHSM faculty serve as examples to their students in their continual quest for knowledge and personal growth.

Staying on top of new information, concepts, and technologies is important to RHSM instructors, whether they are teaching preschool or high school. Intellectual curiosity is a quality all our teachers share, not just with each other but also with their students. Educational practices are always evolving and our teachers are well aware of the need for continuous growth, personally and professionally. RHSM takes great pride in its ability, with the help of national foundations, to import some of the most innovative educators and writers to speak to our faculty. Our teachers attend conferences to be exposed to the best minds in their fields of study and to instruct others in their profession at regional and national seminars.

Board of Trustees
Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s School is incorporated as a nonprofit organization and is governed by a Board of Trustees primarily composed of parents, alumni, and community leaders. The obligation of the Board of Trustees is to support and further the general mission of the school. Board members are entrusted with the vision for the school, while the day-to-day operation of the school is the responsibility of the Head of School. The Board offers the expertise and vision to keep the school’s mission intact and viable for the future.

Alumni
Alumni are an invaluable part of the RHSM community, and the school stays in touch with them and celebrates their accomplishments. Many alumni return to the school to reconnect with former teachers at a holiday brunch, attend class reunions, or drop by to visit with the school’s alumni director. We continually communicate with alumni via email newsletter and they stay in touch with each other and us through the alumni directory and resources on the school’s Web site.
