Our two year olds through kindergarten focus on what it means to be part of a community, both the classroom/school community and larger community. They discuss what it means to be responsible for their belongings, cubby space, and classrooms. They are introduced to the larger community by visiting other parts of their school campus and through participation in all- school service projects. Students learn to help people in the larger community in terms of how they would help a friend. For example, students participate in all-school food drives by donating foods that they would wish to share with a friend who came over to play.
